Queen Mary’s School of Politics and International Relations Achieves Excellent Student Satisfaction in 2025 National Student Survey

Students studying Politics, International Relations and Sociology at Queen Mary University of London have rated their experience among the very best in the UK in the latest National Student Survey (NSS).

The 2025 National Student Survey (NSS), a UK-wide independent survey of final-year undergraduate students, revealed sector-leading feedback for the School of Politics and International Relations at Queen Mary across various measures, including teaching and support, assessment, and student voice.

These results position the School among the best in the country and demonstrate its commitment to providing an inclusive, student-led educational experience that enables students to thrive both during and after their university studies.

Standing out in the Russell Group and across London

The School ranked second among London-based Russell Group universities, and fourth out of all Russell Group universities, for learning opportunities, and first among London-based Russell Group universities (second overall among Russell Group universities) for students' satisfaction with receiving assessment and feedback. 

Students also reported they felt heard and that their opinions were listened to, as the School ranked 1st among the London-based Russell Group universities for student voice. 

Student-centred education

Professor Martin Coward, Head of the School of Politics and International Relations, said:

"The NSS reflects students' experience of their degree; it is the best guide to what students can expect if they study Politics and International Relations at Queen Mary. These results confirm that we lead the London Russell Group Universities in the way we listen to our students as well as the care we take to make sure that assessment and feedback are timely and constructive. The results show that we put the student experience and academic development at the forefront of everything we do."

Professor of Politics, Tim Bale, added:

"We've always seen learning as a genuinely collaborative endeavour between teaching staff and students, so it's great to know that our undergraduates really feel listened to and well-supported - and we're determined to ensure that continues long into the future."
