Lambeth Country Show

Lambeth Country Show is one of London’s biggest free family festivals. Combining the best of the city and countryside, this two-day celebration in Brockwell Park attracts over 120,000 local people with a packed programme of entertainment, food and local crafts, alongside traditional country show offerings including sheep shearing and owl displays, home grown vegetable and flower competitions and horse jousting! The CPE has secured a Queen Mary booth at the ‘STEM Big Top’, part of the Discovery Zone, where we will be joining other STEM-based organisations to engage young people with science.

In 2024, 95% of show attendees were from London, and 63% were from Lambeth – so this is a fantastic opportunity to engage with London communities and share your work.

We’re looking for hands-on, interactive, table-top activities, primarily aimed at children aged 7-11, to present at the show, as part of Queen Mary’s booth. We’ve got small amounts of funding available to support your activities.

  • Where: Brockwell Park, Brixton
  • When: Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th June 2025

Find out more and submit a proposal. The deadline to submit your proposal is 22nd April 2025.

New Scientist Live

Later in the Autumn we’ll be heading to New Scientist Live, the UK’s largest science festival! From live science experiments to talks by the best loved scientists, this educational and enlightening festival promises to showcase the latest breakthroughs, innovations and discoveries in science. The festival is made up of 5 stages, over 50 talks and over 80 exhibitors on the show floor.

In 2024, the show welcomed 26,000 attendees made up of both adults and children, including 6,000 school children and home educated students on the dedicated Schools’ day.

The CPE will be hosting an area on the show floor, offering the chance for 8 staff/students/groups to showcase their inspiring public engagement projects in fun, interactive and accessible ways. Stands should be interactive, hands on and should offer the opportunity for visitors to talk and engage with researchers. Similarly, we’ve got small amounts of funding available to support your activities!

  • Where: ExCeL London, Royal Victoria Dock
  • When: Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th October | Schools’ Day Monday 20th October

Find out more and submit a proposal. The deadline to submit your proposal is 22nd April 2025.

Don’t miss your chance to reach new audiences and share your work in a fun and hands-on setting. The CPE are here to help, so if you have an idea for either of the festivals you’d like to discuss, please send us an email at publicengagement@qmul.ac.uk or book an Advice Surgery. We look forward to receiving your proposals!
