Public Engagement

Satvika Mishra is a dedicated advocate for inclusive public engagement, actively creating opportunities for community connection and educational empowerment. As a Maths Ambassador at Queen Mary University, she regularly supports university open days and taster events, communicating with prospective students and their families to demystify university life and encourage access to higher education. Her commitment to widening participation extends to outreach events like MathsFest and Sixth Form Taster Days, where she offers meaningful guidance to young people navigating their academic futures.

Through her involvement with the QMSU Sports Employability Academy and the 'Trapped in Zone 1' charity initiative, Satvika champions access to sport and wellbeing activities for underrepresented school students. Her volunteering work—including at major events like the London Marathon—demonstrates her drive to engage with diverse communities across London.

As Secretary of the Women in STEM (WoSTEM) Society, Satvika has transformed the society into a vibrant hub of civic and charitable engagement. She initiated a partnership with the Wonder Foundation, leading to a series of impactful events—from fundraisers to networking panels—that raised awareness and support for women’s education globally. Under her leadership, WoSTEM expanded its outreach by collaborating with other societies and involving the wider student body in meaningful causes. These efforts have not only raised funds but also fostered a collaborative culture of social responsibility within and beyond the STEM community.

Satvika’s work exemplifies the role of students as civic leaders, using university platforms to bridge institutional spaces and public needs in impactful, inclusive ways.
