Taking place in Olympia London across 3 days, London Tech Week was attended by tech innovators, investors and enterprise supporters from across Europe. Exploring topics across SpaceTech, HealthTech, AI, entrepreneurship and much more, speakers discussed everything from niche innovations to big industry trends.

Eliza Platts-Mills, qLegal Lecturer, and Emily Wapples, qLegal Operations and Project Manager, presented a legal masterclass with Tom Bohills, Founder and Principal at Founders Law. The session “Sink or Scale – The Legal Leaks that Drown Start-ups" provided an overview of the key legal issues founders should be thinking about as they grow their business.

From the importance of building solid legal foundations for their start-up by formalising founder agreements early on, to protecting while they build by using NDAs effectively to protect confidential information, and not assuming that all jurisdictions have the same legal protections when operating internationally. The masterclass was followed by a 45 minute Q&A session, where founders had the opportunity to discuss their legal concerns and how they can access free legal support from qLegal.

Clemence Tanzi, qLegal Teaching Fellow, also attended the LTW UniversityConnect Breakfast, where she connected with incubator managers, start-up founders and venture funds. The panel and roundtable discussions were an opportunity to hear about the complexities, and opportunities, of collaboration between academia, industry and funding providers.

qLegal staff and students enjoy working with founders and enterprise supporters from across the UK. Find out more about the support available across our qLegal programmes.
