Bhavyasree Yalamanchili, School of Biological and Behavioural Sciences

As a peer-assisted study support (PASS) mentor for the School of Biological and Behavioural sciences (SBBS), I provided academic support to first-year undergraduate students and supported their transition to university learning. I collaborated with fellow PASS mentors to organise sessions on essay writing, referencing and revision techniques as they are foundational skills for their degree and beyond. I continuously developed my active listening skills by tailoring sessions to student’s needs thereby successfully creating a welcoming, engaging environment for mentees to ask questions. I was awarded PASS Mentor of the Year for my successful contributions to the PASS programme.
