Learner Interns Programme 24-25

During 2024-25 Queen Mary students supported key projects aligned with the University’s strategic priorities focusing on LEA, AI in education, awarding and attainment gaps, and sustainability. These projects championed innovative pedagogy and meaningful student engagement.

 


 

Project 1: Advice on studies (Learner Engagement Analytics, LEA)

This project aimed to investigate the learner perceptions of engagement in Higher Education Degree Programmes. 

Project iterns: Amina Bouhedda (School of Biochemistry) and Nora Hoffman (Schooll of Engineering) 

Project leads: Dr Jo Elliott (Digital Education Studio in VP Health Office, FMD) and Dr Usman Naeem (School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science)

Project 2: AI

This project aimed to investigate how learners from a range of different disciplinary backgrounds perceive the usefulness of AI in their education. 

Project interns: Sherjeel Anjum (School of Engineering), Sharriq Qadir (School of Law) and Ching Chang (School of Law)

Project leads: Dr Lei Fang (School of Mathematical Sciences) and Dr Andrew Woon (School of Business and Management)

Project 3: Awarding and Attainment Gaps

This project aimed to investigate learners' lived experiences of inclusive teaching. 

Project interns: Abdirashid Hassan (School of Engineering) and Isabelle Akoyon (School of Financial Management) 

Project leads: Elise Gasser (Queen Mary Academy) and the Race Equality Action Group

Project 4: Sustainability

This project aimed to explore how Queen Mary can best support students to learn about sustainability. 

Project interns: Dawud Hussain (School of Computer Science and Mathematics), Shruti Sabnis (School of Pharmacology and Innovative Therapeutics) and Najia Ahmad (School of Chemistry)
