Sharing Research Cultures 2: Interdisciplinarity and Collaboration

The Research Culture Team were delighted to host Sharing Research Cultures 2: Interdisciplinarity and Collaboration on 31st October 2025, chaired by Tim Warner, Director of the Doctoral College and Dean for Postgraduate Research.

With a funding landscape increasingly focused on interdisciplinary research and a growing recognition that researchers need to cooperate across faculties and disciplines to solve joint challenges, supporting interdisciplinary research and collaboration has never been more important. This event brought together colleagues to highlight the importance of interdisciplinarity and collaboration in building a positive research culture, and showcased innovation and best practice in this area at Queen Mary.

After an opening talk by Kate Malleson, Director of the Institute for Humanities & Social Sciences, and Jenny Morris from UKRI, staff from across Queen Mary spoke about particular projects that highlighted how colleagues are fostering interdisciplinary connections and collaboration, including the Whitechapel Postdoc Forum in FMD, an interdisciplinary research network in HSS, commercialisation training and workshops focused on researchers in S&E, and the Doctoral College’s interdisciplinary leadership training programme for PGRs.
