Profile
Bio: I am a postdoctoral research assistant working with Dr Margherita Malanchini on a project investigating how the co-occurrence of neurodevelopmental disorders and disruptive behaviour impacts educational outcomes. I completed my PhD at Queen Mary University of London, where I explored genetic and environmental influences on neurodevelopmental disorders and behaviour problems, and their co-occurrence. My academic background includes research experience in psychiatric genetics, with previous role at the Social, Genetic and Developmental Psychiatry Centre at King’s College London, where I was looking at the genetic links between symptoms of eating disorders and suicidal ideation.
Project: My current project investigates how the co-occurrence of neurodevelopmental disorders and disruptive behaviour disorders impacts children’s educational outcomes. Despite frequently occurring together, the combined effects of these conditions remain under-researched. By integrating genetic data with information on children's environments, I aim to uncover how biological and environmental factors combine and interact to influence neurodevelopment and learning and identify protective environmental influences that may help reduce educational disparities and promote positive outcomes for children with neurodevelopmental and behavioural challenges.
