I am a freshwater ecologist with an interest in better understanding how stressors acting on freshwater ecosystems impact biological communities. Much of my research has involved large-scale and long-term studies, leading to the development of new bioassessment tools. These are now being used by UK government agencies to assess water quality and to detect ecosystem recovery using long-term data.
