Profile

Quan Zhou is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the CoDE Lab at Queen Mary University of London. His research investigates how genetic, psychological, and environmental factors jointly shape individual differences in learning, motivation, and mental wellbeing across development. Drawing on behavioural genomics, educational psychology, and psychiatric perspectives, his work aims to clarify how non-cognitive characteristics—such as autonomy, motivation, and self-regulation—contribute to both educational and mental health outcomes.

His current projects combine large-scale meta-analytic and genetically informed approaches to map the structure and developmental dynamics of non-cognitive traits. Alongside this empirical work, Quan is developing new theoretical perspectives on human motivation and agentic engagement to bridge conceptual and data-driven research.

He is committed to building theory-driven, data-integrative systems for assessing non-cognitive skills and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration across psychology, education, psychiatry, and genetics.
