Dr Yuan Zhao

Profile

I joined Queen Mary University of London as a Lecturer in Medical Genetics in 2025. Prior to this, I was a Senior Lecturer and Programme Coordinator of MSc Biotechnology at University of Bedfordshire. 

I received my bachelor's degree in Biological Science and Biotechnology at Tsinghua University in China, before moving to the UK for my PhD at UCL. I undertook my post-doctoral training at the Institute of Healthy Ageing at UCL, studying the genetics of ageing and host-microbial interaction under supervision of Prof. David Gems. 

I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
