Currently recruiting QMUL students for September 2025 start!
The Entrepreneurship Hub, in partnership with Project ReMAKE, is looking for student participants to work as student advisors/mentors in a collaborative entrepreneurship-focused project alongside formerly incarcerated people. Participation will provide students with an opportunity to support aspiring entrepreneurs, learn about the realities of life after incarceration, help create a judgment-free space for growth, and contribute to a pro-social community. Students are partnered with a prison-leaver (the entrepreneur) for the duration of a 8-12-week course. Sessions takes place online on Wednesday evenings, starting w/c 15th September 2025 to early December 2025. Students are expected to attend all sessions.

Inspired by a similar programme at Stanford University, Judge Kameel Khan founded Project ReMAKE.
QMUL ReMAKE is an entrepreneurship training programme for formerly incarcerated individuals (entrepreneurs), equipping them with business skills to re-enter employment or enter self-employment, and preparing them to integrate into society. The programme, founded by Judge Kameel Khan, is delivered in partnership with Queen Mary’s School of Business and Management.
Throughout the 8-12 weeks of training, entrepreneurs work with student advisors and business mentors to formulate business ideas, create business plans, and put together a pitch to investors. Upon completion of the programme, some entrepreneurs are put forward for internships with Capita Plc. Some start their own business.
To date, we have had 57 formerly incarcerated individuals and 102 student advisors graduate from the programme. The students highlighted the benefits of experiential and interdisciplinary learning and the long-lasting impact of this unique programme on their life. In particular, they found the programme inspiring and encouraged them to reflect on their own values with regard to social justice.
Dr Kameel Khan comment on how impressive he was with QM student advisors: “What has really sort of given me a lot of hope is the kind of optimism that the students have about things. And I have a lot of faith going forward with people like that, because they want to make the world a better place. And that really comes through with the students.”

Testimonials
"Taking part in the QMUL ReMAKE Programme has been one of my most humbling and fulfilling experiences. Supporting someone who faced prison through their journey has not only challenged my perspectives but also deepened my appreciation for the value of second chances and human resilience. On a professional level, the QMUL ReMAKE Programme has equipped me with invaluable business knowledge and insight. The programme created a dynamic space where people from various backgrounds—both industry professionals and aspiring entrepreneurs—shared practical advice and real-world experiences. This gave me a clearer understanding of the steps involved in building a business, from ideation to execution, and helped foster an entrepreneurial mindset within me."

"Being somebody who has been a prisoner for over seven years, I’ve become used to being let down and led up the garden path. I’ve completed more courses than I’ve had hot dinners, but rarely had access to anything tangible to grasp onto. Project ReMAKE has allowed me to see myself in a different light, open new doors, and let go of the past, in exchange for the future."
