Dr Panagiotopoulos has played a key role in advancing research on how technology is shaping public services and the digital transformation of government. His new leadership position in GIQ reflects his commitment in driving meaningful discussions in the field.

Speaking about his vision for the journal, Dr Panagiotopoulos said: "GIQ has a rich history of shaping the digitalisation of the public sector. As Co-Editors-in-Chief, we want to build on this legacy, ensuring the journal remains at the forefront of research and continues to inform real-world digital transformation.”

He and his fellow Co-Editor-in-Chief, Professor Soon Ae Chun from City University of New York, aim to build on the journal’s global reach and multidisciplinary approach, while exploring emerging topics such as AI and machine learning. They called upon research contributions to consider the public value and societal impact of digital government.

At Queen Mary, we are committed to research that drives real impact. Dr Panagiotopoulos’s appointment strengthens our position as a centre for forward-thinking, policy-relevant research.
