Biography:

Deven Bathia is a Reader in Finance at the School of Business and Management, Queen Mary University of London, UK. Dr. Deven holds a PhD in Finance from University College Dublin, Ireland, and an MBA from Fordham University, New York. Deven’s research interests lie primarily in the areas of behavioural finance, investments, governance, and international finance, with a particular emphasis on investor sentiment, capital flows, and board composition. He is a co-director of the Finance Research Cluster. Additionally, he is a member of the Centre for Globalisation Research (CGR) and the Behavioural Finance Working Group (BFWG). Before transitioning into academia, Deven worked in various roles within the accounting and investment management industry for over seven years.

Research

Research Interests:

My research interests lie primarily in the fields of behavioural finance, investments, governance and international finance, with a special interest in investor sentiment, capital flows and board composition. My research explores the asset pricing implications of various investor sentiment measures. Currently, I am working on several topics including exploring the determinants of capital flows as well as its effect on emerging stock market returns and volatility, the significance of monetary policy shocks on capital flows, and the role of various governance measures in affecting firm performances.

Deven has published his research in various finance journals, including the Journal of International Money and Finance, the International Review of Financial Analysis and the European Journal of Finance.
