The Stationers’ Data Publishing Bursary offered by the Stationers’ Company is available for students with an offer to study for the MSc Data Science programme at Queen Mary University of London.
The student who receives the Bursary will:
a. be offered a mentor organised by the Stationers’ Foundation;
b. be awarded a Certificate at a ceremony at Stationers’ Hall in the year of their studies; and
c. on the successful award of an MSc and a letter of recommendation by the Bursar’s mentor the student will be made a Freeman of the Stationers’ Company without any fee, namely, “fee or fine” for an initial period of three years.
The Bursary will be offered to the successful applicant as a discount made against the tuition fee applicable to MSc Data Science programme.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the bursary, students must:
- have a conditional or unconditional offer of a place on the MSc Data Science at Queen Mary University of London (the Bursary cannot be transferred to a different programme of study)
- have UK residency and be eligible for ‘Home’ student tuition fee rate.
- Applicants must normally be under 30 on 1st September 2025, although applications will be considered from older students on a case-by-case basis.
Selection Criteria
Short-listing will take place based on the following criteria:
- Academic merit
- Financial need
- The quality of the application
- Interest in becoming an active member of the Stationers' Company
Award decisions will be based on performance at interview. Candidates will make a presentation (a maximum of 10 minutes) in support of their application and show examples of their work. The presentation should demonstrate and evidence the candidate's achievements to help the panel understand the quality of their work. Candidates may want to explain the background to their work and demonstrate how this will lead into their next area of study and career. A link to our AV equipment via an HDMI link will be provided.
The interview panel will be made up of at least two Stationers and the Course Director from the candidate's postgraduate course.
Final decisions will be communicated to the candidates as soon as possible. Bursary funds will be transferred to each university in early September and then passed on to each award winner after the course fees have been deducted (if appropriate). The selection panel's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into concerning the decision.
There will be an Awards Ceremony at Stationers’ Hall for Bursary Recipients, their guests and mentors in November 2025. It is essential that bursary recipients attend this event.
