Profile

My background includes various interdisciplinary roles, such as a film archivist, film scholar, curator and artist.

In 2025, I completed an MA programme at the University of Rochester. This included studying at the L. Jeffrey Selznick School of Film Preservation at the George Eastman Museum in Rochester, New York, USA, as well as working as a research assistant on the FIAF's Film Atlas project.

As a film archivist, I worked at the Dovzhenko Centre, the Ukrainian national film archive. There, I headed the paper archives department and co-edited numerous books. As a film curator, I have programmed retrospectives of experimental, archival and Ukrainian cinema at film archives and festivals. Notably, in April 2025, I curated the Ukrainian Film Symposium and the Ukrainian Cinema: Poetry and Resistance film programme at the BAMPFA in Berkeley, USA. Also, I co-curated VUFKU: Lost & Found (2019, Kyiv) and The River Wailed Like a Wounded Beast (2023–2024, Kyiv, Dnipro, Berlin, Szczecin, Tbilisi).

As an artist and director, I have completed numerous works and participated in film festivals such as Ji.hlava, FIDMarseille, Oberhausen and Glasgow, as well as multiple contemporary art exhibitions. I was a nominee for the PinchukArtCentre Prize 2020, a Ukrainian nationwide contemporary art prize for artists aged 35 or under.

My QMUL thesis explores the cultural and technological history of Ukrainian Soviet film stock in the context of the contemporary revision of Soviet modernisation. It moves from theoretical considerations about the history of media and the military-forced circumstances of rapid Soviet technological development in the 1920s-1930s to practical challenges of film preservation and decolonisation of archives.
