Profile

Through films, performances and long-term social projects, my practice explores the politics of simulation, mental health and alternative ways of being together.

My practice-based PhD focusses on the increasing use of simulations by police, militaries and corporations to pre-enact all possible future threats to Capitalism, exploring how documentary and theatre can aid the collective struggle to imagine and rehearse alternative liberatory scenarios.

My project is driven by three questions:

  1. How can documentary and theatre aid the collective struggle to imagine liberatory alternatives to Capitalism?
  2. What insights can we gain from investigating the co-option of performance techniques to simulate oppressive futures, and how can this knowledge aid contemporary struggles against the misuse of such creative tools towards violence and oppression?
  3. In what ways can analysing practices of simulation across scales, from multinational organisations to DIY artist projects, help highlight and redress the growing disparity in who gets to rehearse their futures?
