Reflection, reflection and again reflection!

Get Spotted: Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages

(video and more content coming soon - page under construction)

In this podcast, we’ll hear how as part of the TESOL Masters, students must attend a foreign-language class and write two reflective pieces on their experience. The first piece focuses on the teaching methods and approaches used while in the second, the student must reflect on how it feels to be a learner. We’ll hear how reflective writing can be nerve-wracking; how can personal experiences connect to academia and what is this never-ending quest to ‘go deeper’? We’ll hear about some real-life examples of how seemingly small moments in the classroom crystallised learning and lead to real transformation, and how, without reflection these moments may have been lost.

Charlotte, alumni and now Queen Mary Teaching Fellow, talks about how this practise of reflection has been central her professional life, helping her to read situations, give and take feedback to colleagues, and understand students with real empathy.  This podcast will give you plenty to reflect upon!
