Dr Rachel Randall co-edits a special double issue of Hispanic Research Journal on Reproductive Labor in Latin American Screen Cultures

Dr Rachel Randall has co-edited a special double issue of Hispanic Research Journal on 'Reproductive Labor and Caring Practices in Latin American Film and Screen Cultures' (25.1-2).
Published:

The issue explores the portrayal of different forms of reproductive labour -- such as child-rearing, domestic work, and sex work -- in a range of screen media including film, TV, social-media videos and a digitized photography archive. The issue also focuses on the representation of different forms of motherhood, sorority and the formation of non-traditional kin relationships.
All the articles in the issue are available open access until the end of 2025. The issue was co-edited with Dr Andrea Aramburú (University of Manchester).
Dr Randall and Dr Aramburú co-authored the issue's introduction, while Dr Randall also contributed an article entitled 'Sex Work in Contemporary Latin American Film: Caring, Embodied, and Affective Labors'.
Hispanic Research Journal was founded by members of the Hispanic Studies Department at QM and the journal is now published by Taylor & Francis. Following Professor John London's wonderful seven years as the journal's Editor-in-Chief, Professor London has chosen to step back from the role and Dr Randall will be taking on the post.
