Ses Honorables Virtuts Il·lògiques bring their artistic talent to Queen Mary

Last week, the Centre for Catalan Studies had the pleasure of welcoming Ses Honorables Virtuts Il·lògiques, an artistic duo from Eivissa (Ibiza), for their first performances in the UK—at Cardiff University and Queen Mary University of London.

On the morning of the performance, they visited a Catalan language class and a Catalan culture class, where they gave students a short preview of their upcoming performance, offering a glimpse into the unique blend of poetry, music, and visual play that they would later showcase.

Jèssica Ferrer Escandell, a poet and performer, and Diego Martínez González, a clown and musician, captivated us with a vibrant blend of poetry, music, and visual artistry using objects and their own unique talents. The performance was warmly received and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone, including those who don’t speak Catalan. Attendees were also provided with a bilingual Catalan-English booklet featuring the texts of the poems recited during the event.
