Profile

Ana is a Lecturer in Language and Academic Skills for Science and Engineering at the Hainan Joint Educational Institute in the School of Physical and Chemical Sciences at Queen Mary University of London. Previously, she held teaching and leadership roles in education at the University of East Anglia, UCL Institute of Education, the University of Leeds, the University of Warwick, Coventry University, and the University of Sunderland in the UK, as well as in China and Argentina. She holds a PhD in English Language Teaching and Applied Linguistics from the University of Warwick, and Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy. She is passionate about education, and her research interests include learner-centred, bottom-up, and contextually appropriate approaches to teaching, learning, and research. She is a member of several networks in the field including IATEFL (the International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language), AILA (the International Association of Applied Linguistics), BALEAP (the British Association of Lecturers in English for Academic Purposes) and BAAL (the British Association of Applied Linguistics).
