Profile

Dr Eleftheria Sarafidou is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Astronomy Unit of the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Queen Mary University of London. She obtained her PhD in Astrophysics from the University of Potsdam in 2025 and is now part of the research group of Professor Richard Nelson, working on simulations of planet–disk interactions.

Research

Research Interests:

My research focuses on the evolution and dispersal of protoplanetary disks through magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) processes. During my PhD, I studied the role of magnetic fields in launching disk winds and shaping the structure of accretion flows using global MHD simulations. At Queen Mary University of London, I am working on planet–disk interactions and the impact of MHD-driven disk dynamics on planet formation and migration.
