Profile
Dr Laura Vuorinen is a postdoctoral researcher in the Space Plasma Group. She joined the group after finishing her PhD in Physics at the University of Turku, Finland, in 2024. She is currently working with Prof David Burgess on the interplay of solar wind turbulence and collisionless shock waves in the inner heliosphere.
Research
Research Interests:
My research interests include solar wind-magnetosphere interaction and particle acceleration and transport in the heliosphere. My main expertise is in spacecraft observations of the Earth’s bow shock environment and of interplanetary shocks. Currently, I am working on hybrid modelling of collisionless shocks to study the interplay of pre-existing solar wind turbulence and shock waves in the inner heliosphere.
