Project Title: Innovations in Antibody Drug Conjugate (ADC) Linker Design

Supervisor: Dr Chris Jones & Dr Stellios Arseniyadis in collaboration with AstraZeneca

Content: ADCs are innovative biopharmaceutical drugs that combine the cancer cell-targeting ability of antibodies with highly potent anti-cancer agents, joined via a chemical linker. Upon specific binding of the antibody to a cancer cell, the chemical linker self-destructs and thereby releases the cytotoxic agent into the targeted cells. This project aims to deliver novel linkers for ADCs, which will be achieved via the development of a number of complimentary new synthetic methodologies using organic chemistry.
