Profile
I am a former respiratory physiotherapist with over 14 years’ experience in quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods applied health services research. My research interests include evaluation of nursing, pharmacist and allied health extended roles and workforce transformation strategies and my area of expertise is the implementation of non-medical prescribing. I have held research fellow roles for NIHR Policy Research Programme national evaluations of physiotherapist, podiatrist, dietitian and therapeutic radiographer non-medical prescribing, in addition to a General Optical Council commissioned national review of optometrist prescribing. My doctoral research exploring early phase implementation of paramedic independent prescribing in general practice in England was awarded the 2023 University of Surrey Rosemary Pope Memorial Fund Award. I have worked with multi-disciplinary research teams for over 14 years, leading and contributing to outputs with international impact. My work has been instrumental in influencing and informing changes to UK policy for non-medical prescribing, with recent systematic/literature reviews providing supporting evidence for the Republic of Ireland Department of Health Expert Taskforce to Support the Expansion of the Role of Pharmacy and the Nottinghamshire Alliance Training Hub Advanced Practice Toolkit. Having completed a mixed studies systematic review on the implementation of digital health interventions in primary care settings in high income countries at QMUL between 2024-2025, I am now Post Doctoral Research Assistant supporting a study developing of an evidence-based digital intervention to support emotional wellbeing in people with type 2 diabetes.
