Lunches and Refreshments
Shared lunches and refreshments will be provided throughout the conference, offering further opportunities to socialise, connect, and recharge. All lunches and refreshments are included in your registration.
Please note that the Conference Dinner on 3 September required a separate ticket and is now sold out. If you have any questions about the dinner, please contact the conference team.
Campus catering has worked to accommodate the dietary requirements indicated on your registration form. If you have any questions about ingredients or food preparation, please speak to a member of the catering team during the conference, who will be happy to assist.
Lunches
When: Each day, 12:000PM–1:00PM
Where: The Octagon
Lunch will be served for delegates from 12:00 PM on all three days of the conference, offering a welcome chance to refuel, catch up with colleagues and continue conversations from the morning’s session.
Seating in the dedicated lunch space will be very limited, but additional indoor seating areas will be available in the foyers of conference buildings. And, if the weather is on our side, you can take lunch outdoors at the picnic tables outside of the Octagon or find a spot along the canal.
If you’re attending a special lunchtime event or meeting, such as the PGR Lunch please check with your convenors for details about the lunch arrangements.

Local Dining and Drinking Options
If you’re looking for something extra, hot drinks, snacks, and other food options will also be available to purchase from cafés and eateries across campus.
The recommended conference pub is The Cherry (359 Mile End Road, Bow, London E3 4QS), just across the canal from campus.
Below you’ll find a selection of restaurants and pubs near the QMUL Mile End campus recommended by postgraduate students and faculty. This is by no means an exhaustive list, and there are many other excellent places to eat in the surrounding area.
Many of the venues listed offer vegan and halal options. In the UK, the terms “plant-based” and “vegan” are often used interchangeably, although it is always worth checking with staff if you have specific dietary requirements.
Most restaurants in the UK are accustomed to catering for common food allergies and intolerances. If you have an allergy or sensitivity, please speak to staff directly to confirm what can be safely accommodated.
