The 2026 annual conference of the Theatre and Performance Research Association (TaPRA) opens on 2 September, bringing together nearly 500 scholars, artists and practitioners for three days of conversation, collaboration and exchange across Queen Mary University of London’s Mile End campus.
Alongside a packed programme of panels and plenary events, TaPRA 2026 includes performances, exhibitions, social gatherings and shared meals, with plenty of opportunities to continue conversations beyond the formal programme.
An expansive artistic and social programme, developed in collaboration with the Whitechapel Gallery, extends beyond the campus and draws on the Department of Drama’s longstanding connections with London’s East End and the Live Art sector.
Whether you are joining us to present research, experience new performance, reconnect with colleagues or take part in conversations across the field, we hope TaPRA 2026 will be a welcoming and stimulating space to exchange ideas, discover new work and make new connections.
