Profile
Anjali is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Neff Lab, working on the Work for AI Safety (WAIS) project funded by the UK AI Security Institute. Her research examines how ethics can foster fair, safe, and dignified work in contexts shaped by technology and inequality. At WAIS, she collaborates with the Trades Union Congress to develop tools that centre worker perspectives and identify sociotechnical risks in AI systems.
Trained as an ethnographer, Anjali’s earlier work explored gender, labour, and wellbeing, including her DPhil research at the University of Oxford on the suicides of married women in India. Before joining DERI, she was a researcher at the Oxford Internet Institute, where she investigated how algorithms and data infrastructures shape gendered inequalities in digital labour.
