Profile

Dr Laura Bevis is an applied mathematician and fluid dynamicist working in Cardiac Digital Twins at the newly formed Digital Environment Research Institute (DERI) at Queen Mary. Her primary research interests and experience include biological and computational fluid dynamics, and biomedical engineering, with extensive expertise in clinical translation and at the interface of engineering and medicine.

She completed her PhD at Imperial College London, where she developed mathematical models of the vitreous humour in the eye for shear-related retinal damage, and now works alongside the Personalised Cardiac Modelling Lab and the Cardiovascular Devices Hub at Barts Health NHS Trust to develop patient-specific flow models for aortic valve replacement therapy. Her interdisciplinary research in patient-specific modelling and contributions to international projects such as the European Digital Twins in Healthcare Coordination and Support Act (EDITH-CSA) underscores the impact of her work at both research and policy level.
