Liang is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Data Assimilation for Model Calibration at the Digital Environment Research Institute (DERI). He obtained his PhD in Geoengineering from Delft University of Technology. His former work focused on data assimilation and uncertainty quantification in subsurface systems.
Following his PhD, he joined Professor of John’s group as DERI. Liang’s work covers a wide range of uncertainty quantification methods including MCMC, data assimilation, and Bayesian evidential learning. He is going to integrate these techniques into the forward stratigraphic models for better model calibration. His work has great potential in many geoscience applications where observations are limited, and the uncertainty is high.
