When: Thursday, October 9, 2025, 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Where: Teams

Do join us online on Thursday 9th October, we will be joined by Dr Tina Chowdhury Reader in Regenerative Medicine in SEMS.

Title:  "A model for prediction of iatrogenic preterm birth using data from London and Zimbabwe."

Biography: Dr Tina Chowdhury is an advocate for Women's Health research working with an inter-disciplinary team of obstetricians, climate scientists and engineers in London and Zimbabwe. In the UK, around 1 in every 9 pregnancies are preterm and Zimbabwe has one of the highest rates leading to childhood complications that are life-long. Climate change is having an impact on the health of pregnant women and birth outcomes, in particular stress such as heat, infection or pollution in the air and at home. We are developing human in vitro models of preterm birth combined with tools in machine learning to investigate the mechanisms of preterm birth, develop interventions to reduce pregnancy complications and intervene well before babies are born.
