Professor Maks Del Mar to speak at Adam Smith Festival of Ideas
Professor Maks Del Mar will be speaking in Kirkaldy, Adam Smith's birthplace, as part of the Adam Smith Festival of Ideas (5-8 June 2025).

Maks Del Mar, Professor of Legal Theory and Legal Humanities at Queen Mary University of London, will speak on a panel devoted to 'Exploring Smith - History, Sociology, Law', with a presentation on 'Adam Smith: Morals, Letters, Laws'. The Festival includes a tour of key historical locations in Smith's life and many other public events. Other speakers during the Festival include the actor Brian Cox and former Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
The event is hosted by the Adam Smith Global Foundation. Professor Del Mar has a long-standing interest in Scottish philosophical and political thought. He is currently writing on the reception of Greek letters in eighteenth century Scotland and will be presenting on that topic at the Scottish Seminar in Early Modern Philosophy XIII, at the University of St Andrews, 15-16 May 2025.
