SOLM313 Fashion, Law and Social Justice

Module Description

The fashion industry is confronting important contemporary issues of social justice, from representation and inclusion in the industry, to issues of equality and welfare. This module provides students with the opportunity to explore issues of social justice in fashion through seminar-based discussions of specific research materials provided in advance. The concept of social justice and its importance for the fashion industry will be explored through a range of topics, including: diversity and inclusivity (in both products and practice); cultural appropriation; freedom of expression; fashion activism; and access and cultural participation in fashion.
