SOLM314 Fashion Enterprise: Ethics, Business and Law

Module description

This module engages with commercial fashion practice through the breadth of fashion and the law. Through scenario-based learning, students acquire invaluable skills in innovation strategy, policy development, and commercialisation by studying the interaction between the fashion enterprise and a range of legal frameworks including: intellectual property; consumer protection and privacy; unfair commercial practices; digital and retail strategy (including virtual or metaverse); and advertising and marketing (including influencers and social media marketing). Students also consider a range of ethical issues utilising various legal and normative frameworks including: equality and discrimination; environment and welfare; cultural appropriation; and artificial intelligence (AI). Mentored in teams to develop an original enterprise, students gain valuable skills in project management, cooperative learning, and communication of strategy and policy.
