LAW6021 Jurisprudence and Legal Theory
This course is an introduction to the figures, texts and concepts that have been and are central to theorising law. The course is divided into two semesters, with Semester A offering an overview of the history of legal theory with attention to three themes: Society, Communication, and Power, and with Semester B offering an opportunity for a more advanced and in-depth exploration of particular, cutting edge issues in jurisprudence. The course ranges from the Ancient Greek philosophers and orators through to 21st century critical legal theory.
