Dr Jessica Agnew-Blais awarded prestigious RSE grant to explore parental exhaustion in neurodivergent families

Published:

Dr Jessica Agnew-Blais from the School of Biological and Behavioural Sciences has been awarded funding as part of the Royal Society of Edinburgh’s (RSE) Spring 2025 Research Awards programme.

Working alongside Dr Jasmin Wertz and Dr Bonnie Auyeung at the University of Edinburgh, Dr Agnew-Blais will investigate the risk and protective factors associated with parental exhaustion in parents who are autistic or have ADHD.

The project is one of 73 research initiatives to receive support through the scheme, which has awarded over £729,000 to innovative academic work spanning a wide range of disciplines.

This collaborative effort highlights the growing recognition of the unique challenges faced by neurodivergent parents, with the findings expected to inform better support systems and interventions.

The RSE’s Research Awards Programme is designed to nurture promising talent, strengthen Scotland’s research sector, and encourage international collaboration.
