Personal and Career Development Plan
Personal and Career Development Plan is a core module taken across all three years of your undergraduate degree. It is designed to equip you with the essential professional and transferable skills needed to succeed in a competitive graduate market. Through a combination of workshops, practical exercises, and reflective activities, you will build a strong personal brand, develop a professional CV, refine your interview techniques, and learn how to effectively market yourself to employers. The module also provides ongoing guidance to help you identify and work towards your career goals, ensuring you graduate with the confidence and capabilities to thrive in your chosen field.
The module aims to get you started on your career journey by highlighting the importance of gaining work experience during university, as well as the various opportunities and programmes available to support you. The overall theme of this module is discovery and getting ready. you will walk away with a clear understanding of the recruitment process and how to develop your personal brand.
This year will be centered around Labour Market Information (LMI), interview practice and preparing for assessment centres. Within this module, you will have exclusive access to interview guidance from Scotiabank professionals and the chance to practice your interview technique for placements and internship applications. We have even partnered with an external company to provide you with a real life mock assessment centre experience.
The module builds on the Personal and Career Development Plan from year one and two and prepares you to 'Compete with Confidence'. Year 3 focuses on the graduate job market, further study opportunities and building a professional network. You will take part in a broad range of compulsory and optional activities designed to deepen your knowledge of the pathways available in economics and finance, while also helping you build professional connections through a specialised networking session.
