Discover Economics
Join us for our third event at the School of Economics and Finance dedicated to championing women in Economics! This event is designed to highlight the diverse and exciting opportunities in Economics for women and anyone who identifies as female. It includes a panel discussion with inspiring female economists from academia and industry, followed by an information session led by our Student Ambassadors. It will be hosted on our Mile End campus from 10:00 - 12:30, where we will be in conversation with leading economists, including:
- Eileen Tipoe – Reader in Economics at Queen Mary
- Ines Leen - Writer, Researcher, and Content Strategist
- Kajal Kumar – Consultant, Transport and Infrastructure, NERA (Queen Mary alumna)

By attending Discover Economics – Empowering Women, you will gain a deeper understanding of the field of Economics and its real-world applications. Participants will have the chance to experience life at Queen Mary University of London, learn about the latest research from leading academics, and network with student economists and staff. The day will also include an interactive Economics workshop, providing a hands-on opportunity to engage with the subject in a dynamic and inspiring way.
Who should attend?
This event is ideal for young women in Years 10 to 13 who are interested in studying Economics and exploring the exciting opportunities the subject offers. We also warmly welcome Maths or Economics teachers, as well as careers advisors, PSHE teachers, and Deputy Heads who are given a separate training session on teaching economics and supporting students in making informed choices about their future studies and careers.
