We are pleased to announce that automatic captioning has now been enabled for QMplus Media (Kaltura). Any content uploaded or added from 15th December 2023 will now have captions generated automatically. You will no longer need to request for captions to be generated, but please note this will not be applied retrospectively (more information on how to action this below). Captions will take around 30 - 60 minutes to appear on your media depending on the length of the recording and how many videos are being uploaded.
We believe that this update will be beneficial to staff and students across QM. There are several advantages to having automatic captioning for QMplus Media, including:
- improving the accessibility of our content,
- reducing some of the administrative burden on users,
- providing consistency with Q-Review which also has automatic captions enabled,
- improved viewer experience as a significant number of students prefer turning captions on when viewing videos.
