On 17 September 2025, TELT had the pleasure of hosting a stall at the School of Engineering and Materials Science Opportunities Fair, supported by two of our enthusiastic TELT Ambassadors.
Unlike the larger event in Library Square, this event took place in the Engineering Building foyer, creating a warm and welcoming space for students. For many of us, it was our first time stepping inside the building, and it was wonderful to see it alive with conversation, games, and activity.
The event was coordinated by Priya (Priyanka) Godwin (Student Support Officer) and Angela Jones (Student Experience Manager) who went out of their way to make us feel at home, complete with sweets to share with visitors. Their efforts helped create a lively atmosphere, with a wide variety of stalls ranging from school-specific opportunities to broader university services, including Libraries and Careers.
Our TELT Ambassadors, Ben and Hannah, did a fantastic job engaging students. From encouraging sign-ups to our induction sessions, promoting our Instagram page @qmultelt, and running prize draws, they brought great energy and teamwork to the day. The ambassadors also explained who TELT are and what we do, helping students understand our mission and activities. Their approachable style left students with a positive impression of TELT.
Alongside them, I had the chance to answer student questions and highlight the support we provide. We were also joined by Simon Durrant from TELT, whose visit was much appreciated, and Annette Nembhard, who played a key role behind the scenes in arranging our participation and ensuring the stall was a success.
The event was a true credit to the School of Engineering and Materials Science -well-run, student-focused, and buzzing with opportunities. We are grateful to have been involved and look forward to more chances to connect with students in similar events across other schools.
