FMD Bullying & Harassment

The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry is taking forward a programme of work to strengthen a respectful, inclusive and supportive culture across the whole community. Bullying, harassment and related unacceptable behaviours can have a serious impact on people’s wellbeing, confidence and ability to thrive.

We recognise the work already undertaken across our Institutes, and we also recognise that more needs to be done. This programme brings that work together at Faculty level, with a focus on listening, learning and taking practical action.

The programme is informed by local feedback, existing good practice and wider work across the sector on workplace, learning and research culture. It aims not only to respond to concerns when they arise, but also to help prevent poor behaviours by building a culture where respect is expected, concerns can be raised appropriately, and unacceptable behaviours are challenged.

If you need advice, support or information about raising a concern, please use the Where to get help button.

Working in partnership with staff across the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, we are committed to tackling bullying and harassment and fostering a positive workplace culture. Local surveys help us understand the issues affecting our community, while dedicated working groups and practical resources for managers support meaningful action to create an environment where everyone is treated with dignity, respect, and fairness.
