Data Governance, Protection and Security

Data Governance

QMUL has data governance which follows the lifecycle of your data from inception to deletion.

QM’s Information Classification Policy (DG09) provides the overarching framework to manage data. Contained within is the Information Storage Matrix, Queen Mary’s guidance on information storage. It indicates the appropriate data storage platform(s) for your data based on the security classification of the data concerned.  Please ensure that you undertake the relevant training on the Information Storage Matrix via the QMUL CPD Platform.

Data Protection and Security

What is data protection? Data protection concerns information relating to an identified or identifiable living individual – personal data. Please click here for QMUL's pages on data protection.

Please ensure that you undertake the mandatory training on Cybersecurity and GDPR via QMUL CPD Platform. FMD colleagues who are NHS staff can upload their NHS information security training certification onto the QMUL CPD platform as a recognised equivalent of the QMUL Cyber Security and GDPR training.
