Working Together

Our vision is to develop a vibrant global community of engaged and active alumni and supporters who work with staff and students to support the delivery of Strategy 2030.

How we engage our alumni

  • Interactive campaigns on the alumni social media channels
  • Bi-monthly 'Opportunities' and quarterly 'News' emails
  • As e-mentors to students and recent graduates on the Queen Mary Network
  • Via our Alumni Ambassador scheme where prospective students can speak to alumni about studying at Queen Mary and life in London
  • Through careers event and activities in conjunction with Careers and Enterprise
  • By sharing their career story / showcasing their voice on the Alumni Blog, social media, website and Queen Mary promotional materials
  • As hosts or speakers on our recently launched Alumni Angles Podcast
  • As guests and volunteers at UK and global events such as our annual alumni reception at the House of Lords and our Alumni Angles event series, as well as at subject and department specific events
  • Speaking to prospective students at Open Days and Offer Holder Days
  • Leading an alumni group internationally or by subject matter

How you can get involved

  • Please do let the Alumni Engagement team know about any engagement you are having with alumni which support your academic/ professional services activity by emailing alumni@qmul.ac.uk. We need to track such activity to ensure we are making the most of alumni time and effort, and recognising and rewarding their support.
  • Attend our events to speak with alumni from your school / department
  • Email n.brownfield@qmul.ac.uk to feature on our social media (inc. sharing articles, opinion pieces, commenting on current events)
  • Contribute to the Queen Mary Alumni Opportunities and News emails (inc. taking part in interviews, sharing your research etc.)*
  • If you require alumni from a specific sector or with particular experience to support your work, we can help you identify suitable volunteers if you email alumni@qmul.ac.uk. We already work very closely with colleagues in Careers and Enterprise on a number of employability initiatives.
  • Keep us informed of the most up-to-date contact details of alumni with whom you are in contact with by emailing alumni@qmul.ac.uk. Or encourage any alumni you are in contact with to fill our 'update your details' form.

*Copy is included at the discretion of the Development and Alumni Engagement Directorate but requests are very welcome and should be sent to alumni@qmul.ac.uk (for the Queen Mary Opportunities and News emails) and to batlaa@qmul.ac.uk (for the Barts and The London Alumni Association (BATLAA) and Barts and The London Dental Club (BLDC) Opportunities and News emails). Copy should be no more than 100 words and point towards further information online, such as a web page hosted by your School/Department.
