Micro-internships

Take part in a short internship and gain experience in a real-life, professional setting with support and training from Queen Mary internships staff.

Micro-internships

What is a Micro-internship?

Over a five-week period you will work with an employer on a flexible, part-time basis for a total of 40 hours. You will have support from the Queen Mary Internships team throughout your internship.

As part of the programme you will attend two essential career training sessions. Your pre-internship workshop will cover areas such as professional etiquette and how to make the most of your micro internship. Your post-internship workshop will enable you to reflect on your work experience and learn how to use it effectively in future job applications.

Each micro internship is unique, and roles are based in wide range of employment sectors  – from finance to healthcare and sustainability, and more. This is an opportunity to pick up valuable, bitesize work experience while you study.

I liked that there were a variety of different tasks I could do each week, it allowed me to push myself out of my comfort zone and develop new skills.

We are undertaking positive action based on the latest results from the Graduate Outcomes Survey which show British Bangladeshi students' progression into professional or managerial employment, further study, or other positive outcomes is lower than other ethnic groups demonstrating existing inequalities. On that basis, we strongly encourage those that identify as Asian - Bangladeshi and Asian British – Bangladeshi to apply.

I appreciated the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a short, structured format. The flexibility of the programme allowed me to balance it with my studies while still building practical skills.
