QTaster

QTaster is a great resource if you’re still figuring out what your career options are. View upcoming visits from recruiters and get an idea of how these can benefit your decision-making.

QTaster

What is QTaster?

Curious about your career options but not sure where to start? QTaster takes groups of 30 to 40 undergraduate students inside real employer offices for an afternoon, no application needed.

Each visit lasts around three hours and includes presentations from different speakers, facilitated networking, and interactive activities. You'll get a genuine feel for the roles, skills, and culture each employer offers, so you can decide whether it's for you.

You can attend as many visits as spaces allow.

When does QTaster take place?

Visits run three times a year:

  • Semester A (October and November) – Wednesday afternoons
  • Semester B (February and March) – Wednesday afternoons
  • Post-exams (June) – Weekday mornings and afternoons, in the two weeks after exams.

Register your interest on the Careers Hub. We'll confirm your space and ask you to accept by a set deadline.

Who can take part?

QTaster is open to all current undergraduate and recent graduate students. We partner with graduate employers recruiting for summer internships and graduate roles, so visits are particularly valuable if you're in your penultimate or final year.

When demand exceeds spaces, we prioritise students from underrepresented backgrounds in higher education. This includes those receiving the Queen Mary Bursary and/or students identifying as Asian Bangladeshi or Asian British Bangladeshi. This positive action is based on the latest Graduate Outcomes Survey, which shows that Bangladeshi students' progression is lower than other ethnic groups, highlighting existing inequalities.

Which employers have we visited recently?

Civil Service, Expedia Group, ING Bank, the Local Government Graduate Programme, British Airways, World Resources Institute, TfL, Publicis Groupe, Mulberry College of Teaching, Ipsos, RVU, Pearson, Mazars, and Accenture.

What students say

  • 90 per cent of participants said QTaster increased their confidence in their next career step.
  • 78 per cent gained greater clarity in their sector of interest.
  • 100 per cent would recommend QTaster visits to fellow students.
This experience solidified my decision to focus on the banking industry after graduation and helped me identify the specific areas within banking that align with my strengths and interests.
