Head of team

Dr. Kristian Hibberd - Director of Communications

I am the Director with responsibility for Communications. In a nutshell, I am responsible for managing the reputation of the University among our target audiences, and supporting our student recruitment campaigns. I joined Queen Mary in the summer of 2018 from central government where, among other things, I led a strand of the Government’s award-winning GREAT Britain campaign. Before building a career in communications, I was a cellist and musicologist.

Teams within communications

The three Faculty Communication Management teams serve as a link (or main point of contact) between the Faculties they represent and the expertise of the central Communications team.

Our core purpose

Our role is to highlight the incredible work our three Faculties do. We do this by 1) developing strategic communication plans that help set the agenda for what each Faculty should be communicating and how it does so; and 2), by ensuring that support, guidance and resources are available in the central Communications team to make these strategic communications plans successful.

  • Whilst we deliver a lot of major events, our team are not responsible for the delivery of all events.

If your enquiry refers to an event not being directly organised by the Events Office, we may direct you to another member of staff.
