Answers to frequently asked questions related to Canto. If your question isn't here, please get in touch with us at content@qmul.ac.uk.

Yes, we will use Canto to store B-roll footage which you can use for your own projects. We will continue to house our final full-length videos on our official YouTube channels.

Yes, audio files can be uploaded to Canto. Read the full list of supported content types on Canto's help centre. We will be looking to house audio files in the future.

Standard users

You cannot upload content to Canto if you are a standard User (the automatic access level), but you can make a submission suggestion for any images you would like to see on Canto by getting in touch with the Content and Brand team via our request form. 

Contributor users

You can upload content to Canto if you have Contributor access. Contributor access will be allocated based on your job role, and you will need to complete online training before your account is upgraded. If you feel like you should have Contributor access, get in touch with the Content and Brand team at content@qmul.ac.uk.

You should be able to log into Canto using your Queen Mary login details. If you have difficulties logging in or any technical issues using the platform, please contact IT Services (ITS).

Obtaining consent for images or videos featuring people depends on the location and situation. Some may only require polite notice, while others may need a consent form to be filled out. For more guidance and information, please see our Consent guide on Canto.
