Queen Mary presents
Through Queen Mary presents, we’ll be delivering a broad series of events. The aim is for this to become a recognisable platform for the University, creating a way for our diverse community of alumni, ground-breaking researchers, and passionate changemakers to deliver thought-provoking discussions and share valuable insights.
Who can take part?
Any Queen Mary staff member or team organising public facing events can apply to use the brand. Our aim is to encourage the university’s wider community to ‘tag’ their events as part of Queen Mary presents to bring public facing events and supporting activity under one roof.
Types of event
Queen Mary presents is the home for all kinds of public facing events, whether they be in person, online or on-demand – including but not limited to:
- Lectures / lecture series
- Inaugural lectures
- Honorary Graduate events
- Conferences
- Panel debates
- Festivals
- Exhibition (physical and virtual)
- Podcasts / podcast series
- Event recordings / recorded content
How does taking part benefit your event?
Promoting your event under the Queen Mary presents brand offers several benefits. From raising the profile of your speakers, to creating an experience that is an identifiable extension of the University and its community, Queen Mary presents helps you do more with your event and engage new audiences.
Queen Mary presents toolkits
Once your event has been confirmed as part of the Queen Mary presents platform, you will be given access to one of three tiered toolkits.
Tier A
Tier A events need to meet the criteria of being of media interest, impactful and beyond the scope of individual research fields. Whilst the Events and Ceremonies Team will generate and deliver some Tier A activity, event organisers are encouraged to apply for an event to fall under the Tier A banding.
Successful Tier A events will receive support from the Events and Ceremonies Team through:
- Full or partial funding
- Full support, from planning to delivery
- Full branding in line with Queen Mary presents
- Full marketing
- Full event legacy package
Tier B
These will be branded with the Queen Mary presents brand to promote exposure and increase alignment to our public audiences. Whilst these activities will be managed in house by schools or departments, support will be provided by:
- Advice from Events and Ceremonies Team
- Provision of resources
- Branding packs for Queen Mary presents to be used for marketing
These activities may include events such as Inaugural lectures generated by schools or key event series delivered across the university.
Tier C
For events and activities which do not fall within the remit of Queen Mary presents activity, functional advice will be provided via toolkits through the Events Forum. If activity is not relevant to the Events Forum community then other advice will be sought from teams within communications. Please find further information here on the Events Forum page.
How to apply
Staff members are encouraged to apply to use the Queen Mary presents brand via the formal application process. Bids can be made for a stand-alone event or a series of activities. If successful, you will be placed into a Tier banding which will determine the level of support you will receive from the Events and Ceremonies Team.
The purpose of the application process is to allow us to assess your event against specific criteria. We will look at whether your event -
- Targets our key audiences (i.e. alumni, policy makers, external academics)
- Includes noteworthy speakers
- Supports Queen Mary’s values
- Has media potential
