When to use Silktide
Silktide should be used by everyone who creates, edits or manages content within T4. It is a key tool for ensuring Queen Mary webpages remain accurate, accessible and compliant.
Regular use of Silktide helps protect the quality, accessibility and reputation of the Queen Mary website and ensures content meets the needs of all users.
Monthly Silktide checks (required)
All staff responsible for adding or maintaining webpages in T4 must check Silktide at least once a month for the content they create or manage.
Monthly checks ensure that:
- Content remains accurate and up-to-date
- Accessibility issues are identified and addressed promptly
- Broken links, missing image alt text and other errors are fixed
- Pages continue to meet Queen Mary’s web standards
- Even if content is not updated frequently, it must still be reviewed in Silktide every month to confirm it remains appropriate and compliant
Team responsibility
Where multiple people manage content within a section of the website, teams should ensure clear ownership so that monthly Silktide checks are carried out consistently. This may be done by an individual editor or shared across the team, but responsibility must be clear.
